We had a really great day, as well as a great X-Mas eve/day. I'd say the best X-mas ever because of Emily being old enough to understand and anticipate the event. She loved her presents, had a lot of fun when we all got together at the Lawgiver's for gift exchanging and garbage food, and only flipped out a little from being overtired after a very late night.

Sarah got me the swell Gama-Go stuff. The Yeti hoodie is super-comfortable. I also got some Nemo back issues from Mr. Fletcher. We ended up keeping our gifts for one another, Fletcher got me the Pulp book, but so did the Lawgiver, and I opened the Lawgiver's first. I got Fletcher Baltimore, but he already had it (even though I canvassed three people about it before I bought it, arrr). So I kept Baltimore, which I wanted, and he kept his copy of the Pulp compendium. Now everyone's happy, except for those of you understandably bored by my trivial little X-mas miracle tale.

This was my holiday gift to myself, sort of, the Complete Dream of the Rarebit Fiend. More like my gift for the year (along with a new, cheaper-priced version of the Lucha Loco book*):

I ordered it along with Joey Cavalieri, which knocked shipping down, saving us each about $20 or so (if you can get two or three people to go in with you, you can knock the price down even further, if that deal's still on). It arrived over two months ago, but I could only get around to picking it up recently when I drove into the city to speak to Joey's SVA class. I'm glad I was driving, because lugging this sweet monster  home on the ferry would have been a mega-bitch, especially as there was a storm that night. A magnificent book, and the publisher wrapped this baby in enough bubble wrap to keep an actual infant safe from a five-story fall. Maybe.

So, I got neat stuff, Emily scored big-time and had a blast, I got Sarah a pink Nintendo DS Lite which she likes very much, and nothing bad happened and no one got killed.  All I need now to make things perfect would be for someone to give me the free time to enjoy all my new crapola.

Hope you all had a good holiday and aren't too hungover or anything. Feel free to boast about your holiday swag, piss and moan about any veritable lumps of coal dropped in your stocking, or do whatever it is people do after a post like this one. Wince?

* After Sarah read this post she pointed out to me that I lucked out big-time on the Malcolm Venville Lucha Loco book of luchadore photographs. The original edition was around $80, I coveted it, it sold out, and I recently almost bought a copy on e-bay for $100. I checked with Sarah if I could splurge on it for part of my X-Mas present (I mean, $100 for wrassler photos, when, y'know, we have a kid to feed and all), and for the hell of it she checked Amazon, and found that it was being re-published by another company, and was much cheaper. So I skipped the e-bay auction, we ordered the book, and for some reason they shipped us the original book, with the bells and whistles cover design and special paper edging, in the special cardboard box. So we got the original OOP edition for cheap. Yay!
