H.O.F. A No-Show At NYCC
We won't be showing up at NYCC Friday, and I've also had to bow out of my signing at the Harper Collins booth on Saturday. We're overwhelmed with work and have a wedding to attend on Sunday. So, the con plans are shot, among other things. I'm bummed because we wanted to see a few people there, touch base and show Em the crazy stuff she gets a kick out of, like the Ugly Doll set-up. Oh, well. Shit happens.

We just had to blow off our local small comics con here, too, because of last minute, gee-didn't-I-tell-you-about-the-new-accelerated-schedule deadlines. And we may have had more fun staying home. I'm wistful because Alex Nino was a guest. But I probably wouldn't have had the nerve to speak to him anyway...

I was worried you were going to barge into the Shin-chan panel and start trashing their new writers.

I've got better things to do with my time.

Like letting the air out of their tires.

I have no knocks against the writers. The people in charge acted poorly in how they handled our firing. v

You should never have been fired, the show has been a tiresome parade of vulgarity sans wit ever since.

Gimme names and I'll find a way to take care of things.

Sad that you won't make it but I'll catch folks at MoCCA or something. Hope the work is at least fulfilling.

Thanks.

I took a break from inking and didn't realize that it's "officially" my birthday until your post reminded me. Doesn't bode well for how the day will turn out. Then again, the way I feel about birthdays, forgetting isn't such a bad thing. Still, getting older beats the alternative.

Totally missed you today.
I was pretty sad when I found one of the few real reasons I attended was choked up with work and plans.
Hope you got stuff done you needed to!
(Sorry I don't remember my livejournal name and crap.. I feel awkward, just wanted to let you know that you were indeed missed!!)

Sorry we couldn't make it. Hope it was fun and no Stormtroopers stepped on your foot or anything. Those jerks.

We're still in the middle of deadline heck, but thanks for the well-wishes.

Damnit, I have to once again settle for being second to wish you a happy birthday. Am I at least the first to wish you a happy Passover? Too bad I don't think either of us gives a shit.

Jim Hanley, once again serviceably mobile, introduced me to Bob Wayne yesterday morning. Like a yutz I gave him my mini instead of a resume, which I also had on me.

BTW, don't know if you saw it, but io9.com gave a very nice writeup to your Bill & Ted run in the past week. I gave my nephew the 2nd collection Thursday and he was fascinated with the Lincoln story. The seed is planted.

PS: This evening I learned the definition of a "Jew button." You are such a credit to our people.

I was told it was a phrase you coined for the little additional bit of advertising or art printed on a t-shirt's sleeve. Inspired.

Rest of the show was pretty nifty, at least for me, as I got to see probably 80% of the people I'd want to have seen, including my oldest, best friend. Ended up last night, at various points, drinking with David Lloyd, Heidi Macdonald and Charles Brownstein, all shepherded by JahFurry. My quota is filled. (I just realized I didn't see Joey at all. Is he con-averse? [Converse?])

I also got some JHU lore in the form of the Hanley "they're just fucking bums" story. The man is a quandary, wrapped in an enigma, wrapped in gooey nougat.

Yeah, "fuck 'em, they're bums". That story's a classic. But we won't get into it here, as it isn't comics-related.

Couldn't find any good deals, like 25 cent books but I did pick up some nice ones I was looking for such as the Bill and Ted's Bogus journey adaptation and Bill and Ted #1 (My first Dorkin book was Bill and Ted #2, I think, way back when I was 11).

Oops, sorry i'm a little late to post. A nagging foot injury (thnx to NYCC) and a new job have kept me sidelined...

It really sucks you couldn't make it to NYCC but I wore my M&C shirt in respects anyways. I got a ton of great response from it so people do still love ya...

Happy belated Bday as well...
