I still have my official Milk and Cheese deck of playing cards sitting proudly... well, sitting discretely on my desk. Great to see that they're still going!

Were fans to get up and act instead of kvetching online, I'd be quoting the two in saying "Dorkin, you are so dead." Thankfully, online whining never hurt anybody.

That was awesome. It so completely captures my annoyance with Furry Culture.

I just added your LJ to my friend's list the other day, and this is the first Milk and Cheese I've seen in about 10 years (been kinda busy). It's nice to know they haven't changed a bit. I've missed 'em. :D

Nice to hear, thanks. There's been several "new" M&C strips over the past decade, but in pretty obscure places not many folks have seen. The latest incarnation of Negative Burn had a few, there were a few pages in the SLG Free Comic Book Day giveaways, Wizard Edge ran a page, Oni Double Feature, back in the day, had a page, and there was a page in the Flame Rite zippo art book. Oh, and there was a strip on the back of the M&C vinyl figure set no one bought.

I think there are now a total of 12 M&C pages out there that haven't been collected, not counting the Darth Vader Overdrive mini-comic from 1997. 10 of those will probably be in the next issue, whenever that happens. I also have two strips on the shelf in the starting stages. And that's everything, in case anyone was wondering. When we have time I might have Sarah prep a few of these strips for posting here on the LJ, maybe the color ones that we likely can't reprint in color. We shall see.

Dear Mr. Dorkin,

Some of us can take a joke.

Love,

The slightly less psychotic members of Furry Fandom.

P.S.

How would the Dairy Duo react if people started to dress up as them?

Funny you should ask. The strip was originally going to be about cosplay and cosplayers/con costume folks in general, but I only had two pages and had to sharpen the focus. There was going to be two people dressed in Milk and Cheese costumes and it was going to kind of produce a negative feedback loop in them -- on the one hand, they're pissed because it's a costume, they're into it because it's "them", they're angry because they've been badly reproduced by fandom, on the other hand, it's "them". SO, they dunno whether to assault "themselves" or no.t I was thinking they might implode like a Star Trek robot in a logic loop and go do something banal, like watch "To Sir, With Love". Which, btw, makes them cry.

Maybe some other time.

Glad you liked the strip.

I could swear I've seen a pic online somewhere of two guys at a con dressed like M&C.

Regardless, always great to see a new strip. I think the vomit panel made me laugh the most, because I'm nine years old emotionally.

I've seen pictures of people in various M&C costumes over the years. Usually Halloween costumes, I don't think I've ever seen a M&C convention bit. That's a bitch outfit to waltz around a con hall in. Basically a big box.

And I drew the vomit, so I'm a six year old, emotionally.

Grah. Flash. I'll find a way around that.

Oh the facial expressions are so adorable. It's so good when their squinty eyes open up in shock, surprise and seething contempt. And I'm not the only one to comment on the hairy background but it needs to be mentioned again for adding an amazing aspect of putresence.

Eeee, that was fun. There was that lovely viciousness I've missed.

In more public forums I try to smile and accept one and all however they choose to live their lives, but nevertheless, furries really fucking creep my shit out. It's that fetishizing of what are mostly early childhood archetypes, sexually or no, that makes my skin crawl. I can barely commit to getting done what a functional adult needs to make happen (if that), yet these people have the drive, focus and disposable income to build animatronic animal heads, sometimes to fuck in? Oh HELL no.

Incidentally, I love the Elmer/Bugs reference with "Ah, have some cheese, rat!" That surveying short is one of the best of the Bob Clampett era.

Ken A.
