It's a Girl!
Sarah and I are extremely happy and proud to announce the birth of our daughter and first child:
Emily Jane Dyer
Born 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, December 30th
9 pounds, 1 ounce, 20 and one half inches
Sarah is doing as well as one could hope after a grueling 34-hour labor and delivery. She's going to need more time to recover than we'd expected, but she's doing okay, and so is the baby.
If you're a friend or colleague of ours who is only now finding out about our latest addition, my apologies -- I e-mailed a private announcement to friends and family, but I have an extremely outdated address book, and my first attempt at my first mass mailing was accidentally deleted. I just hope I'm a better father than I am a master of technology.
Anyway, I don't know how often I'll be posting in the next few weeks, as we adjust to the demands of the new Head of the Household of Fun. I figure this period of adjustment will last for, oh, about eighteen years or so. I'd like to thank you H.O.F. faithful out there for all your kind letters and well wishes during these past nine months, it was very much appreciated by us both, and I hope 2005 is as good to you, during these very difficult and messy times, as it already has been to us. Happy New Year to everyone.
