2000 Maniacs Comic On TCM Underground Site

The four-page 2000 Maniacs prologue strip I wrote and drew for the TCM Underground "Lost Scenes" section of TCM.com is now up. It can be viewed here if you are so inclined. Here's a small taste of the Flannery O'Conner-like magic in store for you, if Flannery O'Conner was a slob cartoonist:

Unfortunately, I didn't know the movie was airing on April 10th, so, uh, crap. I worked my ass off on it and wanted to do a good, funny job and hopefully drive some of my readers to the site and maybe get folks to watch the movie because, like, that's part of the job, right? That's the point. And so...I goofed it.

See, when the strip went up last week I was told there was a pixilation problem with it, and the Flash was getting fixed, or the clarity or what have you. I didn't understand a word of it, Sarah explained it to me and I still only heard Martian Yiddish. I just saw that the strip looked broken up unless you zoomed in on it quite a bit. Granted,  the Lost Scenes site interface requires you to zoom in to read the strips, but since I was told the problem would be fixed, I held off on plugging the strip until it looked nicer. And I let TCM know this. But I never heard back from anyone about it, and then I forgot about it, and tonight I figured I better go plug it one way or the other, and when I looked at the site tonight I saw a blurb on the "cover" they put together for the comic and it had the April 10th airdate on it. My face fell. So, duh on me for that one.

Anyway, you can still read the strip, it's a bit of a pain because the way they have it set up you need to zoom in and then move the strip around. You'll see. However, if that drives you nuts, they do allow you to print the comics out, which is swell. So, click on over, and print the comics out, and please enjoy, and let TCM know you liked it and maybe they'll release my cat from captivity.

Also, I'm sure they'll repeat the movie sometime on The Underground, and I can always keep an eye out and plug it again. Before it airs. Man, I feel dumb. I mean, yeah, they're not counting on just my handful of readers to check the site out, but it would have been nice to send my supporters over there at the proper time.

Please do check out the strip, I worked hard on it and, hell, I don't do too many comics these days, so why not, right?  If you've seen 2000 Maniacs you might enjoy the stupidity. If not, you still might enjoy the stupidity. My thanks to John @ TCM.com for the swell gig and I'm sorry about my screwing up the plug date. I did plug the site and movie a few weeks ago, at least.

Oy.
